North Goa
Goa is land of wonders which make people believe that each nook and corner of Goa is filled with surprises awaiting tourists. This is why; people are attracted to North Goa, one of the two major districts forming the state of Goa. The district headquarters of North Goa is situated in Panaji, one of the major tourist spots of Goa. The borders defining North Goa it is enough to make us feel that, the land is colorful with enough wealth for tourists. Clear evidence to this statement is that the west of North Goa is surrounded by the beautiful Arabian Sea.

Panaji - Panaji, the capital city is small and beautiful and lies on the left banks of the silvery beauty Mandovi. Throughout the city, your eyes will be attracted to the red-roofed houses beautifully designed in the Latin style along with the modern houses. Everywhere the land is designed so as to attract tourists with gardens, statues and avenues. Gulmohar, Acassia and other valuable trees line up in the streets brining a different effect as you walk through Panaji.
Mapusa - This is another major city coming under North Goa. The greatest attraction of Mapusa is the Friday markets which brings culture from every nook and corner of Goa together. You will find the colors of goa assembling in the market for trade.
If you make a statement that North Goa is a land of beaches, you are never mistaken. The total district is sub divided again among which, each area owns a beach with unique peculiarities of their own.
Some of the main beaches in north goa are:
Vainguinim - This is known as the lovely beach of North Goa. Another main attraction of this beach is the five star hotels located on its beach. You can enjoy the whole of Goa, during your stay there as these hotels bring you the complete Goan experience with modern facilities.
Sinquerim and Candolim - The main center of attraction that draws large number of tourists to North Goa is the Fort Aguada, the pride and prestige of the Sinquerim beaches. The view, you get from the top of this fort to the River Mandovi is a breath taking experience that you will surely have a quest for another visit.
Calangute and Baga - Tourism is highly developed in this area of North Goa. The land is full of tourism packages and the after remaining of tourism markets. Rows of shops and guesthouses have been flourished in this land along with budget hotels. Another center of attraction is the fish market here.
Anjuna - This is a popular beach falling in the northern part of Goa. This beach is well known as the freek capital of the world. There are various reasons for this name. Trance parties and hippies gave much fame to this beach in north goa. The Albuquerque mansion built in the year 1920 is one of the main attractions of this beach. Other places of visit in this beach are the Mascarenhas mansion and the chapora fort.
Miramar - This is one of the main beaches of north Goa, in fact Goa as a whole. The beach is situated around 3Km away from Panaji, the capital of North Goa. Even though the beach is nearer to the capital city, this is not the spectacular beach of Goa. Yet, if you want to try out something different and wish to visit the place, you can surely make a visit since accommodation will never be a problem. You will find a great collection of budget hotels and youth hostels in South Goa.
Dona Paula - This is a beach filled with palm trees and casuarinas plantations. This beach is famous for the peaceful atmosphere prevailing there which can calm down any tensed mind. This is located close to the town as well as the fishing village named Dona Paula. Hence, the beach is named like that. No wonder, why this is a famous tourists spot of Goa. Stay is available in resorts which are rich with swimming pools or in beach cottages.
Chapora, Vegator, Arambol etc are some of the other main beaches of North Goa. Though they all are beaches, each one has their own beauty which makes them unique from the rest and helps to bring tourists to all beaches resulting in the flourish of North Goa as a whole. North Goa can be visited in the months from October to April.
