This church was built in order to honor the lady of miracles. It was believed by the people that the lady had saved them from a plague. It is situated in Brittona on the river banks. However the original origins of the church are in Lisbon. The then pope clement said that this was one of the churches outside Portugal dedicated to Nossa Senhora de Penha de Franca. The church is placed on a small hill. The upper section of the tower is octagonal in shape. It is said to be just opposite the capital city of Panjim, where river Mondovi cuts through.
