12 Augustine friars combined together to make the St Augustine Church. The construction of this Church finished in 1602 on the holy hill at old Goa. However a ban was imposed on the Augustine’s by the government of Portugal. The church and the chapel alongside it were deserted, which is now in ruins. However there are still the remains of the bell tower, sadly without the bell. Between 1931 and 1938 some more collapses were seen, this was then used for charity work. With the collapse of the vault on 8 September 1842, government took the decision to sell the remains of the church.
